The Gap & The Start
When Next Level Tattoo opened, there were only a few tattoo studios in Mayo, and the demand far exceeded what was available. Instead of moving to Dublin where the scene was already saturated, we saw the opportunity to bring something truly unique to Castlebar. We knew that Mayo was ready for a fresh approach, combining high-quality artistry with an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. From that vision, Next Level Tattoo was born—and we haven’t looked back since.
Early Growth
Starting out solo with Douglas, the studio grew quickly. Luke, who started as an apprentice, has grown alongside Douglas from day one and is now an integral part of the team and is now partnered with Douglas as co-owners. Together, we’ve built something special. Over time, we expanded further, with Bartek joining as a talented artist and another apprentice currently learning under us. What began as a one-person shop is now a team of passionate, skilled artists dedicated to taking tattoo art to new heights.
Achievements & Awards
In just a few short years, we’ve achieved recognition both nationally and internationally. I’ve earned multiple awards, including top honors in Sligo and Belfast. But the real goal is not just personal achievement—it’s about elevating the entire team. Luke, Bartek, and our apprentices are rapidly honing their craft, and soon they’ll be taking home awards of their own. Together, we are committed to pushing the limits of what’s possible in tattoo art.
